Cookie and Local Storage Policy
Effective July 20, 2026
This policy explains the browser storage needed to run Wordy Birdy, what is optional, and how to change your privacy choice.
1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small data files stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, and device identifiers. We use these technologies for account sessions, preferences, security, and—only after the applicable choice—advertising.
2. Strictly necessary technology
These technologies are needed to provide or secure a feature you request and cannot be disabled through our optional-cookie control:
- Session cookie: keeps an authenticated or guest session connected to the correct account. Production uses a secure, HTTP-only, same-site cookie. Its configured lifetime is generally up to seven days.
- Security storage: short-lived server records used for passkey challenges, password resets, abuse prevention, and rate limiting.
- Privacy-choice storage: remembers whether you selected optional advertising or necessary-only mode.
3. Functional browser storage
Wordy Birdy uses first-party local storage to remember language, theme, onboarding status, and similar settings. This data stays on the device until it is cleared, replaced, or removed when you sign out or reset the related setting. These preferences do not track you across unrelated websites.
4. Optional advertising technology
If you select “Accept optional cookies,” the Service may load Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver, limit, measure, and personalize ads, depending on your region, account settings, consent signals, and Google’s policies. Google may receive your IP address, device and browser data, referring information, and ad interactions.
We do not load the AdSense script before an affirmative optional-cookie choice in browsers that support this control. A Google-certified consent management message may also appear where Google requires one.
5. Your choices
Use the “Privacy choices” link available in the site footer to accept or reject optional advertising technology. Changing to “Use necessary only” prevents future optional loading from Wordy Birdy; you may also need to clear existing third-party cookies using your browser settings.
We treat a supported Global Privacy Control signal as a request to disable optional advertising and sharing. Browser controls can block or delete storage, but blocking necessary storage may prevent sign-in, preferences, or other features from working.
6. Updates and contact
We may update this policy when storage practices change. Questions may be sent to privacy@wordy-birdy.com.
