Choose the words. Follow the learning loop.

Wordy Birdy keeps one active vocabulary goal at the center of the experience, then decides what to show next from what you are learning and what is due for review.

The learning loop

One goal connects every learning moment.

The feed is mixed, but the path is deliberate. A chosen word moves from a clear first encounter into context, active recall, and timely review while one mastery record keeps the journey connected.

  1. 01

    Set a vocabulary goal

Choose a supported language, start with beginner essentials, paste the words you want, or import vocabulary from the captions of a YouTube video. You can edit the list before making it your active goal.

One active word list keeps the feed focused.
  2. 02

    Meet a new word clearly

A vocabulary card pairs the target-language word with pronunciation, a concise meaning, and a memorable image. Word-level translations stay available when you need them without covering every sentence in a direct translation.

The aim is a clean first encounter, not a wall of explanation.
  3. 03

    Find it inside a story

Short, image-backed stories reuse target words in sentences. Contextual grammar can explain what is happening, but grammar never blocks story completion or vocabulary progress.

Stories count after the final slide is completed.
  4. 04

    Retrieve it, then revisit it

Practice asks you to produce or choose an answer instead of only rereading. A scheduler brings reviews back over time, and due reviews take priority over brand-new content.

Review attempts strengthen learning without inflating new-content totals.
  5. 05

    Keep progress with the word

Your mastery record follows each vocabulary item across lists and content. The progress view separates new encounters, completed content, and review activity so the learning history stays legible.

The same word does not become “new” again in a different list.
